The Protective Power of Honda Sensing®

Understanding Honda Sensing®

If you’ve been looking for a new or pre-owned Honda, chances are good you’ve at least heard of Honda Sensing®. There’s an equally-good chance you’ve wondered exactly what Honda Sensing® is.

In short, Honda Sensing® is standard or available driver-assistive technology on most newer model Honda automobiles. Using the most up-to-do and innovative technology, Honda Sensing® features give you confidence and peace of mind when on the move. The convenience factor isn’t bad, either.

To learn more about some of the suite of safety features which comprise Honda Sensing®, keep reading. Then, feel free to follow up with Honda of Lake City.

Collision Mitigation Braking System and Road Departure Mitigation System

Driver-assistive features weren’t inspired by any notion that drivers are bad or careless. Instead, these innovative features are in place on most Honda vehicles to help complement a driver’s ability to drive safely.

Among the many systems included with Honda Sensing® is Collision Mitigation Braking System. Sometimes, a collision is simply unavoidable. With this driver-assistive feature, though, the severity of impact may not be nearly as dramatic. Courtesy of forward-facing sensors, when the system detects an unavoidable collision, Collision Mitigation Braking System delivers a collision warning and automatically (and gently) applies the brakes prior to the impending collision.

Ever unintentionally drifted from one lane into another? Not fun, especially if there happens to be another vehicle parallel to you. Not the way to make friends. The Road Departure Mitigation System is another helpful active assist feature which delivers automatic steering assistance and even braking should you stray from your detected lane without signaling.

Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist System

For those drivers on the open road for longer periods of time, cruise control is quite the convenient feature. An even more impressive and convenient extension to that is Adaptive Cruise Control.

With Adaptive Cruise Control, sensors gauge the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Should it determine you are getting too close via cruise control, Adaptive Cruise Control automatically dials your speed back to keep you at a safe distance. It will also return your vehicle to its set speed when space permits.

Similar to the Road Departure Mitigation System, Honda Sensing’s Lane Keeping Assist System actively helps drivers maintain a centered position within their detected lane. Unless a driver uses a turn signal to begin the process of changing lanes, Lane Keeping Assist works to keep drivers well positioned at all times.

Traffic Sign Recognition and How it Works

Traffic Sign Recognition is another feature in the Honda Sensing® suite of safety technologies. With this savvy tech spec, a camera on your vehicle can detect the speed limit and place it upon your Head-Up Display. Consider that a friendly reminder that you need neither a speeding violation or, even worse, an increased chance of causing an auto accident.

With the standard or available Honda Sensing®, the goal, again, isn’t to change the way you drive, but only to enhance it. After all, safer driving from one vehicle on the road can make for safer outcomes from other drivers on the road.
